The State Administration of Taxation is not under the control of the Ministry of Finance. State Taxation Administration of The People's Republic of China is a directly affiliated institution in charge of tax work in the State Council, and it is a ministerial-level unit. Formerly the State Administration of Taxation of the Ministry of Finance (bureau level), it was established in 1950, renamed the State Administration of Taxation in 1988, and was directly affiliated to the State Council (deputy ministerial level). 1993 was named State Taxation Administration of The People's Republic of China.
