Surrounding the Sitao Railway is the second block created in Siping, because to the north of the annex and to the west is the Sitao area, which has gradually developed into residential buildings. Its periphery is collectively called Beigou.
In 1898 (the 24th year of Guangxu), due to the construction of the Dongqing Railway by the Russian Empire, a railway station was built in the deserted land and streets were planned, namely the first, second and third roads. In the 29th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1908), Japan's South Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd. opened the central street base (the eastern section of today's Heroes Avenue) and opened three north-south roads to the west - No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 roads. The prototype of the block gradually formed in the west of Siping Station. At this time, the Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd. annex south of Siping Street covered an area of ??5.3 square kilometers and was the first block in Siping.
The completion of the Sitao Railway gave Siping a second block.
As for the Sitao Railway, according to relevant information: "Japan and the Beiyang Government entered into the "Outline of Reservation Methods for the Manchuria-Mongolia Five-way Borrowing Construction" and obtained Sitao (Siping-Taonan), Changtao (Changchun-Taonan) On December 17, 1915, the Beiyang Government had the right to borrow money from Taonan) and Kaihai (Kaiyuan-Hailong) roads, as well as the priority loan rights from Taocheng (Taonan-Chengde) and Jihai (Jilin-Hailong) roads. Signed the "Fifty Percent Interest Four Zheng Tielu Public Bonds of the Government of the Republic of China" with Japan's Yokohama Shokin Bank, which means a loan of 5 million yen with an annual interest of 5% and a term of 40 years, with all the property and income of the Sitao Railway as guarantee. 1917. Construction officially started on April 15, 2016. "
The Sitao Railway is undertaken by Nanman Railway Co., Ltd., and the Sizheng section (Siping Street to Zhengjiatun) will be built first. Actual measurements began on July 8, 1916, and were completed on October 20, followed by design. On April 15, 1917, construction of the railway started. On October 31, the roadbed project was completed. At the end of November, the track laying project was completed. On January 11, 1918, the railway began temporary operation. On September 25 of the same year, the Sizheng Railway was officially opened to traffic. When the Sizheng Railway was completed, the entire line was 87.9 kilometers long. When it opened, it had eight stations including Siping Street Station, Quangou Station, Bamiancheng Station, Qujiadian Station, Fujiatun Station, Sanjiangkou Station, Jinbaotun Station, and Zhengjiatun Station. station. The Sizheng Railway does not purchase locomotives and rolling stock, but leases all locomotives and rolling stock from the South Manchuria Railway. After the Sizheng Railway was officially opened to traffic, it carried out combined passenger and freight transport with the South Manchuria Railway, and the power of train command was also in the hands of the Japanese. It was nominally a Chinese state-owned railway, but in fact it was a branch line of the South Manchuria Railway.
The Sitao Railway Bureau territory is also developing rapidly. The office area and living area are completely separated. There are dozens of residential buildings in the living area. The Sitao Railway Bureau also has its own power plant and a club to enrich the lives of its employees. The most famous thing about North Station is undoubtedly the circle building, which is opposite the office building of the railway bureau, with a large square in the middle. The Malongtan Mansion is also built at the North Station. It is a beautiful two-story building. But at this time Malongtan does not live here permanently.
Malongtan, also known as Xiteng, also known as Lingyuan. There are many stories about Malongtan online, so I won’t go into details here. I just want to talk about what happened when I was in Siping. He came to supervise the Sitao Railway Engineering Bureau in January 1922, and in July the supervisory office was renamed consultant. Later, he was appointed as the first-class consultant of the patrol mission of the three eastern provinces. In 1927, he was specially awarded the rank of General Gong Wei of Malongtan.
