The school originated from Hujiang University founded by 1906 and German Medical College founded by 1907. In the early 1950s, the former Hujiang University and the former National Shanghai Higher Vocational College of Machinery were restructured into Shanghai Machinery Institute and Shanghai Machinery Institute respectively, and the two universities merged to form Shanghai University of Technology from 65438 to 0996. 1998 The school was transferred from the former Ministry of Machinery Industry to Shanghai for management.
As of May 2022, the school has two campuses, Yangpu and Fuxing Road, covering an area of nearly 1,000 mu. There are 8 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 6 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 28 first-level discipline master degree authorization points, 19 master degree categories;
There are 17 colleges (departments) and 64 undergraduate majors; There are more than 27,000 full-time students, including undergraduate students 1.7 million and graduate students 1.0 million. There are more than 2,600 faculty members.
