In a broad sense, an international accountant generally refers to an accountant who has been certified by an international accounting certification body and understands the international accounting standards (IAS) and operation mode.
According to the classification of legal status, international accountants are divided into practicing and non-practicing. A non-practicing certificate can only prove that the owner has excellent qualifications in a certain aspect, but many legal rights are restricted. Although various certificates are popular in the market at present, most of them do not have the right to practice. In fact, there are only a few certificates that have the right to practice and the right to sign audit reports, such as AIA, ACA and ACCA in Britain and AICPA in the United States.
In a narrow sense, international accountant refers to the certificate issued by AIA (full member AAIA, senior full member FAIA). Because among all the accountant certifications, only AAIA and FAIA can directly use the exclusive title of "International Accountant" to engage in related work.
Certified public accountants in China are only qualified in China, and their practice scope is only in China, which is not recognized internationally. The gold content and employment scope of the certificate are obviously not as good as international certification. With the globalization of global economy, China's accounting industry is constantly moving closer to the world, and professionals who are familiar with international accounting standards and have international accountant certification are increasingly scarce, becoming high-paid white-collar workers favored by enterprises.
In China, the most popular international CPA certificates are AIA issued by the British Institute of International Accountants, ACCA issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, ACA issued by the Institute of Accountants in England and Wales, and AICPA issued by the United States. These certificates are very authoritative, and the career development prospects of certificate holders are obviously much higher than those of ordinary accounting practitioners. Unfortunately, however, there is no test center for AICPA in China, and candidates must go abroad to take the test in Guam, USA.
Employment prospects of international accountants
With the implementation of new accounting standards in China, the trend of accounting industry is also changing. International accountants with international accounting qualifications and proficiency in new accounting standards are increasingly welcomed by enterprises.
It is understood that since China has joined the WTO for many years, according to international practice, if an industry (such as accounting) has an international standard, WTO members should try their best to adopt it. However, when China enterprises encounter foreign trade disputes, they fail to adopt internationally accepted accounting standards, which also brings trouble for obtaining equal and fair treatment. Therefore, experts believe that it is also the general trend to integrate with international accounting standards.
Many enterprises in China are actively implementing the globalization strategy of "going out" to strengthen national enterprises and brands. Therefore, it is particularly urgent to recruit international talents, especially those in the fields of international capital market operation, financial operation and overseas market management. It is this demand that makes many well-known Chinese and foreign enterprises extend an olive branch to recruiters. This undoubtedly sends a signal that more and more local enterprises in China will need a large number of accounting management talents who are familiar with international accounting standards, master international capital market practices, master modern enterprise strategic planning and international operation in the process of strengthening themselves and implementing the "globalization" strategy.
With the intensification of China's economic internationalization and the combination of "bringing in" and "going out" strategies, the International Association of Accountants (AIA) has been welcomed by financial enterprises and accounting professionals at home and abroad. What the trainees want to know most is the employment prospect of AIA in China. How many domestic enterprises recognize AIA's international qualification?
As the largest professional accountant organization in the world, AIA trains "all-round" accountants who can add value to enterprises. AIA believes that the growth of employees is the core element of enterprise success. Therefore, it is extremely important for employers to support and encourage employees and provide them with relevant work experience when studying professional qualifications. Provide professional accountants with development opportunities and career support, thus creating long-term value for economic development.
According to incomplete statistics, among the global Forbes 2000 companies, AIA members are also distributed in a wide range of industries, 60% are engaged in accounting and financial work in various enterprises, more than 20% are engaged in professional work in firms, 15% are in financial institutions, and about 5% are distributed in global organizations such as the World Bank, audit institutions, tax authorities, government agencies and non-profit organizations.
With the deepening of globalization, AIA, known as the "international accounting passport", is increasingly recognized in China. In addition to foreign companies developing in China and Chinese companies developing around the world, more and more government agencies and state-owned enterprises also favor AIA professional qualifications.
At present, AIA has more than 65,438+0,000 members, 48,000 trainees and nearly 600 recognized employers in China, and cooperates with dozens of universities in China to set up AIA orientation classes to cultivate compound and applied senior accounting talents.
