1974, after the news spread that the South Vietnamese authorities sent troops to occupy the Yongle Islands in Xisha, Hainan militia and fishermen actively demanded to participate in the war. As the monitor of the militia, Wu Xianfeng's grandmother died and his father was seriously ill. When the leader arranged for him to go home to visit, he declined, and asked to go to the front for war three times, and submitted the "Please Challenge". Finally, he was approved to go to the front for the first time. 1974 1 in the middle of the month, the invaders finally revealed their ugly nature. One night, the radio suddenly heard the news that Saigon authorities in South Vietnam arrogantly included Nanwei Island and Taiping Island in the Nansha Islands. When they heard that their ancestors' land for fishing was occupied by others, and when the originally calm South China Sea was once again raging, the fishermen set off angry waves in their hearts. They think, "The Saigon authorities suddenly come here with such a hand, and there must be a bigger conspiracy. We must be vigilant. Nansha and Xisha are the territory of China for generations!" Nearly 30 years have passed, and Wu Lao still remembers things at that time. He remembered that it was the afternoon of 1974 1 month 18, and he and other militiamen in his class came to Chenhang Island to keep watch. Chenhang Island is an island of nearly 0.3 square kilometers, and there is a Guangjin Island of nearly 0. 1 square kilometer next to it. The two islands form a natural harbor, which is not only a place where my fishing boats often dock, but also a strategic location for the South China Sea outpost. There are abundant resources and pleasant scenery here. Fishermen love it and robbers covet it. Therefore, the militiamen resolutely said: We must defend it, the territory of the motherland, and give up every inch of land!
That afternoon, the small island seemed very calm, and only a few women in Danzhou, Hainan were drying fish on the island. However, the militiamen dare not be careless, because they know the task on their shoulders. Therefore, after going to the island, they had no time to rest, so they were busy building outposts and fortifications, and arranged for the militia to stand guard. Wu Lao recalled that at this time, an official of the South Vietnamese Army on the beach took out a South Vietnamese flag from his waist and wanted to take advantage of it to insert it on the island. As the second squad leader of the militia, Wu Xianfeng immediately took a submachine gun and jumped forward with an arrow and said, "If you dare to plant a black flag on the territory of China, you will be resolutely destroyed!" And stabbed the gun into the waist of the official, scaring the other party to throw down the flag quickly. Wu Xianfeng stamped the flag of South Vietnam on his foot. The enemy's plot to get into the island failed, and he was in a hurry. The enemy telegraph soldier standing by picked up the receiver and was about to contact the warship when the militiamen shouted, "This is the territory of the Chinese people, not Saigon. No talking! " The telegrapher turned pale with fear and the microphone landed on the coral reef.
At this time, the militiamen who were lying in ambush in the Woods and trenches rushed out with guns, and pressed these guys on the beach. One of the leading South Vietnamese officers lingered, pointing to the South Vietnamese warship No.5 at sea, gesticulating with his hands, meaning that it was not good to go back and explain to the captain and asked to write him a note.
The militia Su Min took out a pen and wrote on the paper: "The Xisha Islands and Nanwei Island, like the entire Nansha Islands, Zhongsha and dongsha islands, have always been the territory of China and are sacred!" The leader of the South Vietnamese team looked at the paper and put it in his chest pocket. Then, the militiamen held them with bayonets and walked down the coral ridge step by step. Finally, the invaders climbed onto the rubber boat and withdrew from Chenhang Island.
Wu Xianfeng said that it was with this courage and justice that they drove away the invaders and defended the territory of the motherland.
