1949 1 1 On October 30th, Chongqing was liberated and became the headquarters of the Southwest Military and Political Committee.
1March 953 Chongqing was changed to a municipality directly under the central government.
1In July, 954, Chongqing was merged into Sichuan Province and changed to a municipality under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province. 1983 Chongqing became the first pilot city of comprehensive urban system reform in China, and also a city with provincial economic management authority. In March of the same year, the former Yongchuan area of Sichuan Province was included in Chongqing.
1March, 199714th, the 5th meeting of the 8th National People's Congress decided to merge Chongqing, Wanxian, Fuling and Qianjiang, which originally belonged to Sichuan Province, into a municipality directly under the central government, and Chongqing municipality was officially listed on June18th of the same year.
