In September 1958, seven high-level agricultural cooperatives under the jurisdiction of the second and eighth districts of Qitai County separated and established a farm, called Tuanjie Farm. In 1959, it was renamed Qitai County Farm. In 1963, it came under the jurisdiction of the Agricultural Reclamation Department of the Autonomous Region, and in 1965, it was called Qitai General Farm. In 1970, it belonged to Changji Prefecture. In January 1971, it was affiliated to Qitai County. In October 1978, it was placed under the Changji Prefecture Agricultural Reclamation Bureau and was called Qitai Farm. In 1982, it was affiliated to the Sixth Agricultural Division. It has 19 battalion-level units under its jurisdiction (6 agricultural branches, 1 Liangfan station, 1 water management office, 7 industrial companies, 4 cultural, educational and health units), and 117 company-level units (including 63 agricultural companies).
