Wal-Mart has four global procurement centers in China, namely, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Shanghai and Putian. The processing and manufacturing industries of these four global procurement centers are very developed, and they are all located in the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta. Wal-Mart's global procurement center in Putian is mainly responsible for shoes and clothing. Putian's shoes and clothing manufacturing industry is quite developed, and it is known as the "shoe city". They are mainly OEM, and there are few independent brands. Some internationally renowned sports brands such as Nike AND 1 have authorized factories in Putian. Putian shoemaking has low cost, high technology and good quality. Wal-Mart took a fancy to this advantage of Putian, so it set up a global procurement center in Putian, even though Wal-Mart has a facade shop.
