You can apply for a passport. You only need a household registration book and an ID card to apply for a passport, and you don't need to produce any information to prove your financial ability. However, a visa is required.

The general procedures for handling passports are as follows:

1. Bring my ID card and residence booklet to the local police station and the exit-entry administration department of the county public security bureau to receive the Approval Form for China Citizens Going Abroad for Private Purposes (hereinafter referred to as the Application Form).

2. Fill in the application form.

3. Submit an application. When submitting an application, you must bring the following materials:

1) The original ID card or household registration book and the first page, information page, change page and copy of ID card of the household registration book.

2) Complete the original application form.

3) A color photo that meets the requirements.
