New citizens are the main force and fresh force in China's urban construction. They have shed blood and sweat for the modernization of our city, contributed their intelligence and made indelible contributions, and deserve the respect and equal rights and treatment of urban residents. However, due to historical reasons, they have been wearing the hats of "outsiders" and "migrant workers", and it is difficult to get equal and fair treatment.
In short, the new citizens correspond to those groups who have left the countryside and basically gained a foothold in the city, but have not fully integrated into the city, which is largely related to the household registration system. By the end of 20021,the urbanization rate of permanent residents in China was 64.72%, and the urbanization rate of registered population was 46.7%, with a difference of 18 percentage point, which was the main group of new citizens.
Characteristics of new citizens
New citizens have poor job stability, frequently change jobs or do short-term odd jobs to seek entrepreneurship. Income and working conditions are the main factors that affect their frequent change of workplace. The relatives and friends of the new citizens are not around, and most of their jobs are in manufacturing, construction and service industries. They have less free time, and prefer to contact their families or have fun with their mobile phones during their breaks.
Due to the high mobility of work, most new citizens can't pay social security stably, and their awareness of paying social security voluntarily is low. The work of new citizens can basically meet their own needs, but after paying living expenses and rent, they are mostly used for online shopping and other consumption, and there is basically no deposit. Low income, no savings, unable to bear large expenditures, will relieve the pressure by borrowing. Lending is often small and short-term, with turnover as the main factor.
