From the end of 1938 to the beginning of 1939, China and the United States reached the "Tung Oil Loan Agreement". The United States provided China with a loan of US$25 million with an annual interest of 4.5% and a term of 5 years. China needs to provide 220,000 tons of tung oil to the United States. This loan was mainly used to purchase military trucks from the United States and improve transportation facilities on the Burma road. This loan is regarded as the beginning of U.S. aid to the Nationalist Government and Sino-U.S. wartime cooperation during the anti-Japanese war.
