When making a claim, you need to fill in a claim form (different claims for serious illness, medical treatment and death) and send it to the agent/intermediary together with the diagnosis report issued by the hospital. Generally, claims will be received within 7- 10 working days.
Of course, all this must be based on the principle that the insured abides by the "highest integrity" when applying for insurance.
Loose compensation conditions
The definition of disease in Hong Kong insurance is very loose. Compare the definition of stroke in Hong Kong:
And the mainland's definition of stroke:
It can be seen that it is easier for Hong Kong to meet the claim conditions for the same disease. What's more worth mentioning is that suicide insured for more than one year is also covered. For example, in 2003, Leslie Cheung committed suicide, so he received a large amount of compensation.
How to get a claim?
With more and more mainland customers and stricter foreign exchange control, seeking more diversified claims has become the basis for insurance companies to survive and achieve business growth. In fact, the claims of several insurance companies in Hong Kong are becoming more and more humanized. For example, several leading insurance companies in Hong Kong have successively introduced new claims payment methods:
Both insurance companies have recently increased "wire transfer payment" to pay claims against mainland customers. In other words, even if you don't have a bank card in Hong Kong, you can choose to let the insurance company directly transfer the claims to the mainland card by wire transfer. However, the wire transfer here is paid in US dollars or Hong Kong dollars. To convert into RMB, the holder/beneficiary needs to go to the bank to settle foreign exchange in person.
How to cash a check?
Insurance claims in Hong Kong are often paid to customers by cheque.
If you hold a Hong Kong bank card, you can choose to entrust an agent to deposit the check directly into the Hong Kong bank card, of course, in the form of Hong Kong dollars or US dollars.
If you don't have time to open a bank card in Hong Kong, you can choose to do cheque collection in the Mainland, which is the most commonly used method. After receiving the cheque from the insurance company, the beneficiary/holder collects the cheque from the mainland bank, deposits the foreign currency cheque into his foreign currency account, and then settles the foreign exchange and converts it into RMB. Of course, this process is limited by the ceiling of $50,000 per person per year.
Open an account in Hong Kong.
As mentioned above, there are many ways to receive claims. Of course, it is most recommended to open a bank card in Hong Kong.
The commonly used methods of claim settlement, whether direct wire transfer or cheque collection, will be affected by foreign exchange control, that is, the limit of purchasing foreign exchange and settlement of foreign exchange of 50 thousand US dollars per person per year. The amount exceeding the limit of US$ 50,000 can be settled in the second year, or you can choose to go directly to consumption abroad, or the most convenient Hong Kong bank card with UnionPay logo, and you can spend it directly in the mainland.
Case enumeration
Let's share the latest claims cases of Prudential 20 17. Hong Yijun highlighted four cases for your reference.
1. Viral encephalitis (claim amount 15 1, 869.03 USD)
This is a customer of a colleague in the same group, a family that can afford to pay millions of savings premiums. No one thought it would need insurance in case of emergency. Client 14-year-old son was hospitalized for more than 2 months because of viral encephalitis. 20 15 years1at the end of October, the insurance coverage this year is exactly two years, and the basic insurance coverage is 654.38+10,000 USD. Before 10, the company gave away $50,000 free of charge, plus part of the returned premium, and the sum was 15 1869.03. I hope this compensation can bring some comfort to this family.
2. Gastric cancer (claim amount: 16 1 10,000 Hong Kong dollars)
Customer Mr. Li (32 years old) was unfortunately diagnosed with gastric cancer one year and seven months after purchasing critical illness life insurance. The customer's insured amount is USD 654.38+500,000, plus USD 52,500 donated in the previous year 10 and part of the returned premium, * * * USD 206,755.88 is paid by the company, totaling HK$ 65,438+0,665,438+0,000. After the customer is diagnosed, get in touch with our colleagues as soon as possible, and prepare the materials needed for claim settlement in the mainland and send them to the company by express delivery (I don't need to go through Hong Kong all the time).
Third, the children were generally hospitalized (the claim amount was $875.35).
From August, 2065438 to August, 2004, the customer insured the baby with lifelong critical illness insurance and additional hospitalization insurance. The first two cases are aimed at major illness claims. This is an ordinary hospitalization, which can be reimbursed within 3 hours. I want to make it clear in particular that this is the eighth claim settlement since the customer insured. It can be seen that it is necessary to insure children against serious illness and attach a hospitalization insurance.
4. Accidental injury (claim amount: HK$ 17586)
My colleague insured the company's high-end medical products himself. I accidentally hurt my foot at the beginning of the year and spent a day in private medical treatment in Hong Kong, which cost a total of HK$ 65,438+07,586. This is also my colleague's second accidental injury claim.
In fact, there are many similar cases, as Bo Huang said: "Although no one wants to get this claim check. But if you value it, it will protect you! "
