Singapore Government Investment (Private) Limited (GIC) is an international investment company, which was established by the Singapore government on 198 1 to manage Singapore's foreign exchange reserves. The company has offices in eight financial centers around the world and invests in stocks, fixed income, financial market securities, real estate and special investments around the world.
The company's investment is managed by its three subsidiaries: GIC Asset Management (Private) Co., Ltd. (Open Market), GIC Real Estate Investment (Private) Co., Ltd. and GIC Special Investment (Private) Co., Ltd. (Private Equity Investment).
According to The Economist's report in 2008, Morgan Stanley estimated that GIC * * has assets of about $330 billion [1], making it the third largest private equity fund management company in the world [2].
