Fun Travel answers the landlord's questions.
1. Where is the appropriate place to exchange US dollars for local rupees?
I personally suggest that it is more convenient to change money at the airport exit. Although there are exchange points in big cities, there is almost no difference in exchange rates.
Second, can I only use cash or swipe my bank card to change it into dollars?
No matter at the airport or other exchange points, you can exchange dollars for money. I don't see anyone swiping their cards directly. Some people exchange RMB for money, and some people exchange US dollars for money. There is not much difference between the two.
② In addition, UnionPay cards are rarely supported in Sri Lanka. Visa or mastercard can be used in shopping malls, but UnionPay does not support it.
Only commercial banks in Sri Lanka can withdraw money through UnionPay, which is available in many places. Wherever you go, you will see this kind of ATM, including at the airport. Before going abroad, you can apply for a UnionPay card of Huaxia Bank, and the first payment in the world is free every day;
3. How much cash do you need to bring?
(1) The landlord has already said that apart from the cost of air tickets, accommodation and chartered cars, there will be some interesting things left, including the cost of scenic spots tickets, which is about $500, which is enough. In this way, you can bring $500+part of RMB, which can also be directly converted into rupees in Sri Lanka, and the unused RMB can still be used when you return home;
(2) If the landlord is in a branch of Huaxia Bank, I personally suggest to apply for a bank card to facilitate the withdrawal of money abroad. The key is that there is no handling fee for the first payment every day.
