Introduction to Xijing College
Xijing College, located in the ancient city of Xi'an, was founded in 1994, was approved as a general undergraduate college in 2005, was granted the right to confer bachelor's degrees in 2009, passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate qualification assessment as the first privately-run college in China in 2010, and became one of the first five private colleges and universities qualified for master's degree postgraduate training in 2011, and one of the first five private colleges and universities qualified for master's degree postgraduate training in China. In April 2018, Xijing College was approved as a "first-class private college construction unit" in Shaanxi Province. The university has always adhered to the motto of "sincerity, health, erudition, and ability", and has taken the responsibility of founding a university with "mission, vision, and wisdom" to cultivate talents, inherit civilization, and strive to build a high-level Xijing University.
The university covers an area of nearly 1749 acres, with a building area of 760,000 square meters. In the process of long-term development, based on the regional economic services, combined with the advantages of the university, the university has established a professional development plan based on the construction of "three major groups", that is, intelligent manufacturing as the traction of the engineering professional group, auditing, accounting as the lead of the economic management professional group, and visual communication design as the axis of modern art and design. There are 15 faculties and departments, 7 colleges, 5 master's degree programs, 37 undergraduate majors, and 23 higher vocational majors.
The school insists on cultivating talents with applied technology, aiming at cultivating first-line engineers or industrial applied talents with sound personality, solid basic knowledge, strong professional practical ability, innovation, and the ability to engage in practical work. Adhering to the market-oriented, we have established the development mode of industry-teaching integration and school-enterprise cooperation, and emphasized the cultivation of practical ability and professional quality. It has been approved to have one national featured major, two provincial featured majors, one first-class construction major and five cultivation majors in Shaanxi Province, six provincial teaching achievement awards, five pilot projects of comprehensive reform of provincial majors, six provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and one virtual simulation experimental teaching center; and it has built a "National Creative Space" and a "National University Mental Health Education and Education Center". There are "National Mental Health Education and Counseling Demonstration Center in Colleges and Universities" and "National Excellent Social Science Popularization Base". In the past three years, students have won more than 3,000 awards above the provincial level in discipline competitions, innovation and entrepreneurship activities and other important events.
The Research Report on Evaluation of Research Competitiveness of Private Undergraduate Colleges and Universities in China shows that Xijing College's research competitiveness jumped to the first place in China in 2018. "Xijing College Intelligent Manufacturing R&D Center", "National Defense Science and Technology Research Institute" and other scientific research platforms. In the past three years, more than 200 vertical research projects have been approved at the national, provincial and ministerial levels, including seven projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and two projects of the National Social Science Foundation of China, and the funding for horizontal projects has exceeded 200 million.
