The connotation of social computing includes two levels:one is the computational method of society, and the other is the socialization of computing.

Definition of the connotation of social computing: there is no clear definition, in general, social computing is a cross-discipline between modern computing technology and social science. Some scholars in China define it as: that is, the computational theory and methods oriented to social activities, social processes, social structure, social organization and social functions.

While the intersectional research in the field of social sciences combined with big data and artificial intelligence has been widely recognized by academia and industry, new research problems, research methods and research trends in complex systems have become topics that scholars in this field continue to explore. The Third International Conference on Social Computing, hosted by the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University and organized by the Center for Social Network Research at Tsinghua University, was successfully held in a combination of online and offline, and the participating experts and scholars carried out academic reports and exchanges around the topics of complexity research and social computing.

The conference aims to track the cutting-edge research in the field and promote the deep integration and innovation in the fields of social sciences, computer sciences, and statistics.
