China's top 10 automobile companies
Tenth place: Jiangling Motors. Starting from a small local factory on the verge of closure, JLM has emerged from the market with an open philosophy and enterprising development strategy, becoming one of the largest enterprises in the field of commercial vehicles in China, one of the fastest-growing enterprises and one of the enterprises with the best economic benefits in the domestic automobile industry, and ranked among the top 100 listed companies in China for the past three consecutive years, and in 2005, it was honored as the first of China's most competitive listed companies in automobile category.
Ninth: Lifan Automobile. Lifan Automobile is located in Chongqing Automobile Park, with a master plan of 700 acres of land, and 300 acres for the first phase of construction. Lifan sedan will use the national brand, Lifan LIFAN. the first product named at present, Lifan Automobile's full line of products are exported, from the sedan to SUV, to Lifan micro-vehicle, the whole line of products are participating in the global market of international competition.
Eighth place: Changan Automobile. Formerly known as the Shanghai Marine Gun Bureau, Chang'an Automobile was founded in December 1862 (the first year of the Qing dynasty's Tongzhi reign) by Li Hongzhang, the initiator of the foreign affairs movement, who authorized the Englishman Magri and the Chinese official Liu Zuoyu to start the company in a temple outside of Shanghai's Songjiang city.
Seventh: Geely. Since Geely's first car rolled off the assembly line in 1998, the company has had economy sedans Meiji and Haoxiang; intermediate sedans Freedom, Huapu and King Kong; and the sports car Mermaids.
Sixth place: BYD Auto. BYD is one of the strongest companies in China's auto companies, or arguably the world's, to adhere to the development strategy of new energy vehicles.
Fifth place: Great Wall Motor. Great Wall Motors is known for its steady operation, having created high growth and profitability for more than 10 consecutive years, and creating and maintaining four domestic firsts in the competitive market.
Fourth place: Hafei Automobile. Harbin Hafei Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. referred to as Hafei Automobile, belonging to China Changan Automobile Group, for the Chinese micro-vehicle manufacturing and research and development of the founder and pioneer, is China's backbone of the automobile production enterprises and research and development base.
Third place: Brilliance Automotive. Now, Brilliance Gold Cup has two major whole car products under its banner. They are the Jinbei Haili light bus, which has a market share of nearly 60 percent among similar models in China, and the Jinbei Geris multifunctional commercial vehicle, which is produced with the introduction of Toyota's high-end technology.
Second place: Chery Automobile. Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. is a state-owned joint-stock enterprise engaged in the production of automobiles, incorporated on Jan. 8, 1997, and headquartered in Wuhu City, Anhui Province.
First place: Red Flag Automobile. Red Flag is the automobile brand of FAW Hongqi Automobile Sales Co. The company was founded on May 12, 1958, and mainly produces medium and high-end commercial vehicles.
