Many people talk about BW and HANA together because BW is a large database that tends to run into bottlenecks in computational performance, and my previous client had serious performance problems with Impayé. How can the company executives tolerate a reporting that takes 15 minutes to open, so they were happy with HANA and it took 5 seconds.
Another example is Air France's SIRAX system, although SIRAX is not SAP, but it is used to manage Air France's ticketing revenue, every day countless people to buy tickets, change tickets, refunds need to go through the system, the computing performance requirements are extremely high. Air France strike at that time the whole population refund, the system has been paralyzed several times. So the above thought of HANA, however, did not have much use, because HANA in the hardware space limitations, can not install too much memory. Air France tried a 6TB (yes you read that right) class server from a company, and it didn't have enough memory (yes you still read that right), so it had to stop.
So, HANA can't replace BW, just like your Porsche can't replace your kidneys, there is no comparison.
