The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, commonly known as Inner Mongolia, is abbreviated as "Meng". The capital city of Hohhot. Inner Mongolia straddles the three major regions of northeastern China, northern China, and northwestern China, and is bordered by eight provinces and regions, making it one of China's more neighboring provincial administrations.
Located in the interior of the Eurasian continent, Inner Mongolia covers an area of 1,183,000 square kilometers, accounting for 12.3% of China's total national area; as of the end of 2017, the resident population of the region stood at 25,048,000 people; the region is basically a plateau-type geomorphological area; the region has a complex and varied climate dominated by temperate continental monsoon climate due to the geographic location and topography of the region.
Inner Mongolia is rich in resources, "East Forest, West Mining, South Agriculture and North Pastoralism", grasslands, forests and per capita arable land area of China's first, the world's largest reserves of rare earth metals, but also China's largest grasslands and pastoral areas.
