The school was approved by the Guizhou Provincial People's Government and filed with the Ministry of Education in August 2001, and was established by the merger of Anshun Agricultural School, Anshun Finance School, Anshun Sanitary School, and Anshun Industrial School, as a public full-time general vocational college and university; it is a Guizhou Province High-level higher vocational schools and professional program construction unit.

Anshun Vocational and Technical College is the only full-time public comprehensive higher vocational college in Anshun City.

Anshun Vocational and Technical College was established in October 2002 by merging Anshun Agricultural School, Anshun Finance School, Anshun Sanitary School, Anshun Industrial School, and was officially opened.

In November 2013, approved by the provincial people's government, Anshun Institute of Technology was established, implementing the management system of "two brands, one set of people". in January 2017, it was approved to become a high-quality higher vocational institution construction unit in Guizhou Province. in January 2022, it was approved to become a high-level higher vocational school construction unit in Guizhou Province. in 2023, it was approved to become a high-level higher vocational school construction unit in Guizhou Province. In 2023, it will become a specialized school of Guizhou Medical University and Anshun College.

As of December 2021, the school covers an area of 1,181 acres, with a total building area of 377,900 square meters, a total area of 210,000 square meters for teaching, research and auxiliary rooms, an area of 110,800 square meters for on-campus experimental internships and a total value of 1.5 billion yuan in fixed assets.
