Mechanisms that have the role or nature of warmth and ascension are attributed to fire;

Mechanisms that have the role of cleansing, purgation, and astringency are attributed to metal;

Mechanisms that have a chilling, moisturizing, downward-running effect are all attributed to water.

The Five Elements have special meanings in Chinese medicine.

1, "gold is said to be from the leather", on behalf of the sinking, purging, astringent and other properties, in the human body for the lungs (organs) and the large intestine (bowels).
