Can I get the Mobile Search software from my existing phone?
If you have a compatible Nokia cell phone, you can download the free Mobile Search software (see the Downloads section). New compatible Nokia cell phone models are coming soon. For more details, see the Compatible Nokia cell phones section.
How do I download Mobile Search?
***There are 2 main ways to download: Quick download and normal download.
A. Mobile Search Quick Download
Enter your GSM cell phone number, including the international area code, in the box and click "Submit".
You will receive an SMS message with a WAP link. Click the link to download the Mobile Search software.
B. General download of the Mobile Search software
On the download page*** there are three options for downloading the Mobile Search software: via WAP, via SMS, and via PC.
Through WAP
Select the model of your Nokia phone and your preferred language
Enter the number of your GSM phone in the box, including the international area code, and click Submit. "Submit.
You receive an SMS message with a WAP link. Click on the link to download the Mobile Search software.
By SMS
Select the model of your Nokia phone and your preferred language. A word, such as "Msearch x", appears on the screen.
You receive an SMS message with a WAP link. Click on the link to download the mobile search software.
On a PC
Select the model of your Nokia phone and your preferred language
Click this button to download the Mobile Search software (select Save when the dialog box appears).
When the download is complete, transfer the files from a compatible PC to a compatible Nokia phone via a USB cable, Bluetooth wireless connection, or MultiMediaCard.
Access the files in your Nokia phone and follow the on-screen instructions to install the Mobile Search software.
What is the easiest and fastest way to download and install Mobile Search software?
Quick download (done via WAP).
How do I remove Mobile Search?
The mobile software should be saved in Tools > Program Manager on your Nokia cell phone. Go to Program Manager and look for a file called "Search" that is approximately 2-3 MB in size. Select the item and then choose "Remove" from the options menu. After that the program will be deleted. You will also need to remove each of the different plug-ins. The name of the plug-in is "Search-XXXX plug-in".

How do I open the Mobile Search program?
Select the search icon from the menu and get ready to search.
Why are there different search categories, such as Web, Images, News, and Communities?
Different search categories allow for more focused searches. This means that the results will be more accurate and relevant.
How do I start a search?
Just type the word or phrase you are searching for in the search box of the mobile search software and click the center button or the left menu key. Press and hold the arrow keys to toggle between letters and numbers. Press the Sign Pen key to select the writing mode.
What's the best way to find what I'm looking for?
Click on any answer on the search engine results page. Then move through the detail pages. This method allows you to see more information on all the different result pages.
How do I get detailed information from the search results?
Simply click on the search result you are interested in and you will be taken to the detail page. This page will give more information and options for you to act on to use these results.
How do I get to a site?
Select one of the search results and click 'Browse'. The browser will run and you can browse the page.
What should I do if the results of my search are not satisfactory?
This may be because you are using the wrong category or search method. For example, if you are searching for cabs, you should have used the Community category, if you are searching for information, you should have used the Web Search category, and if you are searching for images, you should have used the Image Search category.
You can perform a secondary search on a search by going to the Options menu or double clicking on the results link. When there are multiple search engines for a category, try checking the results from different engines.
How do I change the default search engine?
Select a search category (Web, Local, Content, or Image), then go to the Options menu and click Select Service.
How are search results organized?
It all depends on the individual search provider. Each company uses its own methods and know-how to organize the way it displays search results.
Where is the total number of search results displayed?
When you return to the first search result line of the search results, you will see a pop-up window associated with this result, which displays the total number of results for the search category.
How fast is the browser?
Browser speed and page download speeds depend on the network provided by your telecom operator. The browser software and the mobile search software are independent of each other. To return to the mobile search software, exit the browser.
How can I find a bookmark once I have saved it to Mobile Search?
All bookmarks are saved in the browser software. You can go to your browser later and use the bookmarks directly.
Community Search
What is Media Roaming?
With media roaming, you don't have to do anything to automatically connect to the network in the country or region where you are away from home, since roaming exists between different telecommunications networks. With media roaming, new content that is closely tied to your location is automatically updated. This is especially important when doing community searches, for example.
How do I use Media Roaming?
When you enter another country or region, simply click on the Mobile Search software and it will ask you if you want to automatically switch your phone's search settings to the new country or region. Don't worry, you can always set it back to your home country's search engine by going to the options menu and selecting the appropriate country or region.
What is the "Country" option?
You can manually change the country or region settings to access different search providers in those countries or regions. Go to the Options menu and select Change Country or Region.
Search pages
What are search pages used for?
The Search page is designed to find standard or mobile websites.
Image Search
What is Image Search used for?
Image search is used to find images on the Web. Type in the word you are searching for and an image containing that word will appear in the search results.
Why do some images not load?
This is due to search engine indexing. Even when an image is displayed as a thumbnail, it is not always available. The speed at which thumbnails load depends on the network, so please be patient. If an image fails to load after 30 seconds, please try again.
How can I find an image once it's been saved to my mobile search program?
All images are saved in the Gallery on your Nokia cell phone. Go to the Gallery to view and use the saved images.

The file size is 1.5 MB (depending on the installed language fonts). The file is stored in Tools > Program Management.

The file size of plug-ins depends on the plug-in, and is typically between 20 KB - 150 KB.
Are plugins limited?
The plug-in is limited only by the available memory or MMC of the Nokia cell phone.

Data charges include GPRS and roaming (where applicable). Please check and reconcile the costs with your ISP.
Content Search
What does Content Search do?
Content Search makes it easier to find contacts, calendar events, to-do lists, text messages, email, and other files on your phone.
How do I limit my search to calendar events, to-do items, or notes?
In the main Mobile Search view, click Content Search and you will see a list of categories above the search box. Select one of the categories to limit your search to that particular category.
Why is Content Search not available on my Nokia phone?
Content Search is not supported on S60 version 2 devices, including the N72, N70, N90, 3230, 7610, 6682, 6681, 6680, 6260, 6670, 6630, and 6620. We're working on making it available on all of them, so stay tuned! Stay tuned for our updates!
Plug-ins and updates
What are plug-ins?
A plug-in is an auxiliary program that enhances the functionality of software in the form of a software package. For example, plug-ins are added to Web browsers to enable them to support new content types (audio, video, etc.). In mobile search software, plug-ins can be used to access different search engines and are about 20 KB - 50 KB in size.
The mobile software asked me about "updates". What does this mean?
When a new search service becomes available in a new region or around the world, you can download it to your Nokia cell phone. Updated, improved versions of existing search services, such as local search, can also be dynamically downloaded at any time.
How do I get new updates?
Whenever an update to a new plug-in appears, you will be notified when you open the Mobile Search software. If you don't want to update the plug-in, simply select the "No" option and you will no longer be prompted for the plug-in.
The next time a new plug-in appears, you will be prompted again. This time, you will be prompted for the plug-in you rejected the first time, as well as information about the new plug-in. Select "Yes" or "No" to accept or reject.
When can I get country-specific plug-ins?
Country-specific plug-ins are only available when you roam to that country or region, or when you change the country or region setting in the Options menu. You will be asked to update the plugin if there are any valid plugins.
You can change the Options menu to any country or region and look for plug-ins at any time. If you want to remove the plug-in, follow the removal steps described in the Download and Installation FAQ section. You will be prompted again for new plug-ins when switching back to that country or region.

General Information
Do I have to have a GPS receiver?
No, many features of Maps do not require a GPS receiver: high-resolution maps and street plans of the world, a comprehensive list of interesting locations such as restaurants, clubs, and cafes; route mapping; city guides (optional); and much more.
Does my phone support Maps?

Can I pre-install Maps on my phone?
Yes, you can. With MapLoader, you can select the desired region on your PC, then download and install it on your memory card or mobile device.
Do I have to update the map data every time I use Maps?
No, any map data downloaded will be saved to your phone. You can determine how much memory you want to reserve for this data through the settings. When the memory fills up, the least frequently used data will be overwritten.
Do I need a memory card for my phone?
Using a memory card is recommended unless you have sufficient internal memory (e.g. an internal hard disk).
Costs
Is Maps really free?
Yes, the Maps software is completely free. But keep in mind that your mobile network provider may charge for data transfer. A WiFi connection (e.g. hotspot) or UMTS flat rate is recommended.
A blinking symbol is displayed when data is being transferred. You can also configure settings to disable data transfer.
Can I use Maps abroad? How can I avoid roaming charges?
Whenever your phone accesses the network of a different mobile network provider, Maps will alert you so that you don't have to pay extra roaming charges.
Or you can use MapLoader to download maps to your PC and install them on a memory card or mobile device.
How much does navigation cost?
When you purchase navigation, you need a license that is valid for a specific area and time period. You can find the price of the license in Maps.
Using Maps
What is the difference between routing and real-time navigation?
Routing calculates and displays the route between two places.
Live navigation guides you to your destination with voice instructions (e.g. "turn left in 300 meters").
What is a guide?
It's a premium travel guide that many cities and regions shop for - with detailed information about cafes, music and shopping stores, museums, WiFi hotspots, and more. Simply select and download the guide, then activate it and start browsing the world!
Why do I have to enter my phone number on your website?
We need your phone number in order to send you a text message with a link to download Maps. We do not store this number, nor do we share it with others. You can find more detailed information at [link to privacy policy].
