New season goal: defending the title

Chelsea's new season has only one goal: defending the title. Compared to last season, Chelsea's chances of winning the title have even improved. Their team is very stable, with little change in personnel in the starting lineup, and almost two outstanding players competing for each position. In contrast, the potential rivals for the title, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, have their own worries. Gunners gone Vieira, need to re-adjust to adapt; Manchester United "92 generation" further aging, the young people have not yet to pick up the beam; Liverpool after a major change in the urgent need for integration, the variables are very great; and Chelsea steady rise, is still the biggest favorite to win the title in the new season.

Transfer Review

The arrival of Wright-Phillips has deepened the thickness of the "winger group", and the dilemma of having no one on the side after Robben Duff's injury in last season's Champions League will be avoided; Del Orno has filled the vacancy of the left wingback, and Bridge is no longer alone in supporting the side; in addition, Crespo and Carlton Cole have returned to enrich the center of the field. -The return of Crespo and Carlton Cole has enriched the choice of center forward, but also for Drogba to bring pressure; in general, Chelsea's reinforcements to increase the thickness of the lineup, and the main lineup will not be too much change.

It is worth mentioning that Chelsea released Parker, Smerkin and others, the thickness of the center forward position has been reduced but not increased, 20-year-old newcomer Diarra is not yet enough to play a role in the side of Lampard, Makelele, there is no stable starting candidate, unless Mourinho can take Essien.

Main prediction: 433

Cech; Ferreira, Terry, Carvalho, Del Horno; Lampard, Makelele, Thiago; Robben, Duff, Drogba Main lineup chart

Lineup analysis

Chelsea will still be dominated by the 433 formation for the new season, and the configuration of the three center-forwards will be a feature of the Blues, with Chelsea, Terry, Ferreira, Makelele and others to build a defensive system is a guarantee of title contention, in addition to the third center forward doubt (Gudjansson may guest), if the nearly 33-year-old Makelele can maintain the form, Chelsea's midfield will be impeccable.

Up front, Robben's "wingers" are strong and thick enough to tear through any defense. In the center position, Drogba and Crespo have their own characteristics, and their strength is first-class. It can be said that in each position, Chelsea has two good players to compete, the thickness of the lineup is the best in the Premier League.

Chelsea's pitfalls are Robben's injury, the center-forward's goal-scoring rate and the choice of a third center-forward.

Players to watch: Cech, Terry, Lampard, Robben

Chelsea are not a one-man team, and this central axis is their capital to be proud of. Cech, Terry and Lampard played all the key games last season, and amazingly, they never seemed to have any significant ups and downs in form, so it's fair to say that these guys are the cornerstones of what keeps Chelsea at an overall level. Robben, on the other hand, is the key up front, with or without him making a noticeable difference to Chelsea's attack, and how he stays injury free is his main concern. And of course, not to be forgotten is Makelele, the spine that supports the entire defense system.

History of Chelsea FC

Chelsea's beginnings and the Stamford Bridge stadium are closely related, on April 28, 1877, Stamford Bridge was officially opened to the public, initially only as a venue for athletic meets, rather than used for soccer, the ownership of the stadium changed hands in 1904, and the Mills Brothers took over, and initially they intended to rent the stadium to the Fulham team, but they were refused. So they planned to set up a soccer team of their own, and that's how Chelsea came to be. ......

It all started with their new chairman, Ken Bates, who became the new man in charge when he bought the shares held by the Mills family, the club's founders, for £1. ......1 In 1993 Glenn Hoddle, aged 35, took over the reins at Chelsea and the former England and Tottenham Hotspur famous midfielder's reign became the turning point. Hoddle set about bringing in some world-class players, such as Dutchman Luther Gullit ......View Full Article
