There are less than 10 new-energy vehicle companies that used to be called "new car makers". Fortunately, the remaining "new forces" are moving in a healthy direction, and while improving vehicle performance, they continue to set new range records for pure electric vehicles. This year, almost all of the new NEDC ranges offered by the new forces have reached 500km, but this time we've set the bar even higher, and the next pure EVs that come out will have NEDC ranges of more than 600km, which will hopefully make you forget about your mileage anxieties.
Looking at the range calibration
Unlike the single "MIIT gas mileage" used for fuel cars sold in China, EVs are subject to a variety of range standards, including NEDC, WLTP, EPA, and Tesla's National Standard Working Condition Method.
The NEDC, known as the New European Drivig Cycle, is a complete cycle consisting of four urban conditions and one suburban condition, with the ambient temperature between 20-30°C and the air conditioning turned off. The maximum speed of the test is 50km/h, and the average speed is about 19km/h. The maximum speed of the suburban cycle is 120km/h, and the average speed is 62km/h. This range test standard is the most widely applicable range standard in China at present, but due to the ideal conditions of the NEDC test, the range of the tested cars is often longer, so we can regard the NEDC as a "Ministry of Industry and Information Technology fuel consumption" standard for EVs. "MIIT gas mileage" (you know).
In contrast, the World Light Vehicle Test Protocol, WLTP, has a much tougher testing methodology, so the same car's range is usually recorded at a lower range under WLTP than NEDC. The Tesla Model 3, for example, has a NEDC range of 660km, but only 610km after adopting the WLTP standard.
The EPA is the US Environmental Protection Agency's standard, which is much closer to real-world conditions than the WLTP, for example, the EPA requires that the vehicle be loaded with a 200kg load, and the test program includes full air conditioning, high speed and full throttle acceleration. For example, the EPA requires the vehicle to be loaded with 200kg, and the test program also includes full load of air conditioning, high speed and full throttle acceleration. The Tesla Model 3, for example, has a WLTP range of 610km, but only 600km according to EPA standards.
And the domestic Tesla's "national standard working conditions method", according to Tesla's official statement, is based on the test results of the new national standard GB/T?18386-2017, "Electric Vehicle Energy Consumption Rate and Driving Range Test Method". The test results generally fall between NECD and WLTP.
Here's a little summary: The NEDC test method is ideal, and the range results look good, so it's widely used by pure electric vehicle companies. However, to get a closer look at the actual range, WLTP and EPA, especially EPA, are the best references.
But with the release of CATC (China Automotive Test Cycle) in February this year, the domestic EV range standard will gradually abandon NEDC and WLTP, and adopt CATC, which is more in line with China's national conditions and has a higher degree of credibility, and the lack of uniformity of the EV range standard is expected to end. The situation of the domestic pure electric vehicle range standard is expected to end.
Model inventory
Tesla Model 3 Long Range Rear Wheel Drive
National standard range: 668km
Official price: 344,050,000 yuan
Now Tesla is still recognized as a "new force in the car-making industry". After all, this is the 17th year that Tesla has been involved in new energy vehicles.
While Tesla has been criticized for its workmanship, it's clear that the money-makers who are willing to pay for the money-losing company aren't looking for Tesla's cracked sheet metal - technology and ecology are, and of course Musk's label as a tech pioneer.
As you can tell from the name, the Tesla?Model?3 Long Range rear-wheel-drive version focuses on ? "long range", 668km indicator is enough to take the hand, even if the air conditioning driving in the summer, charging once is fully able to meet a week of urban commuting.
The key is that Tesla's layout in the domestic new energy market is early, even in second- and third-tier cities, and even in remote scenic areas, you can see Tesla's super charging piles, and in terms of charging convenience alone, Tesla's advantage is still more obvious.
BYD? Han EV?Ultra-long range version of the luxury model
NEDC comprehensive working condition pure electric range: 605km
Official guide price: 22.98-279,500 yuan
BYD Han EV*** launched three models, in addition to four-wheel-drive high-performance flagship model NEDC range of 550km, the remaining two NEDC range of 605km.
Compared with the previous Tesla Model 3, the BYD Han's design sense is much more prominent, after all, under the pen of designer Wolfgang Egger, who has produced such classic cars as the Allegra 8C Competizione, in my opinion, what he brought to BYD is not only a set of "Dragon?Face", but also a new design for BYD, which is the first of its kind in the world. In my opinion, what he brought to BYD is not only a set of "Dragon?Face", but also injected the soul for BYD cars.
As BYD's new energy flagship sedan, the Han EV is the "research and development results display platform" of BYD's deep plowing of new energy for many years: DiPilot intelligent driver assistance system, eco-cockpit, DC fast-charging technology with a 10-minute range of 135km, and German-flavored chassis tuning, etc., which is most worth mentioning. The most noteworthy is also equipped with the "blade battery", which appeared a grasp of the pure electric car about the safety and service life of the two major pain points, is regarded as an independent new energy vehicle technology innovation is not too much, and 200,000 yuan price range, but also further enhance the market competitiveness of BYD Han EV.
Guangzhou New Energy? EAN LX?80
NEDC combined working condition pure electric range?650km
Official guide price: 279,600 yuan
Earlier in the Shanghai Auto Show, I saw the EAN LX?80D?Max, and as soon as I opened the rear door, I was amazed at the right rear row of an airline seat, so the new energy SUV can be so playful.
But this "boss chair" is only exclusive to the LX?80D?Max as the flagship model, non-Max can only be realized through the optional equipment - but fortunately the ordinary LX?80 back row is already comfortable enough. The 2920mm wheelbase at least doesn't make the rear seat leg rests on the flagship model too much of a concern.
Using a ternary lithium-ion battery and permanent magnet synchronous motor, the Eon LX?80?s NEDC range reaches 650km, which is good enough to rival Tesla?Model?3's long-range rear-wheel-drive version. The knob-type gearshift, the center console's rows of buttons, and the 12.3-inch dual-curve screen across the board also allow you to spend money on a new energy autonomous vehicle, you can set up a number of luxury brands. The user experience brought by the car, typical spend small money to do big things.
Ai Chi U5?PRO+
NEDC comprehensive working condition pure electric driving range: 623km
Official guide price: 292,100 yuan
And "PRO" and "plus". , from the name probably gives a sense of the power of this AIC U5 range.
The AIC U5*** comes in four models, with the ING+ and PRO models in the middle of the range having a NEDC range of 530km. When it comes to the AIC U5?PRO+, engineers have added an 18kWh range extender pack module consisting of eight battery cells to the trunk where the spare tire used to be placed, thus adding 102km to the range of the AIC U5?PRO+, and making it a total NEDC range of 550km.
But I'm more interested in the team behind the AIC U5 - like Kiyoyuki Okuyama - than in the range, of course. Kiyoyuki Okuyama designed the first-generation NSX, which became known as the "Ferrari of Japan". Not satisfied with his reputation as a "Ferrari of Japan" designer, he went on to work at Pininfar and designed the 60th anniversary edition of Ferrari's, yes, the famous ENZO.
So, guess who designed the Mercedes-Benz U5?
Small Peng?P7?Rear-drive Ultra Long Range Intelligent Edition
NEDC Comprehensive Working Condition Pure Electricity Range: 706km

The question of the fish and the bear's paw, this time it's the turn of the Xiaopeng P7. You should know that Xiaopeng P7 a *** launched 3 versions *** counting 8 models, the only recommended model NEDC range reached 700km - but this rear-drive ultra-long-range intelligent version is not equipped with Xiaopeng Automobile proud XPILOT automatic driving assistance system. so, it is your turn to choose is Do you want more than 700km of range, or a smart driving system with a dozen sensors and cameras?
If you don't know how to answer, take a look at the answer given by the big data: just past July, Xiaopeng P7 a **** delivery of 1,641 units, of which 98% of the owners, chose to equipped with XPILOT2.5 or XPILOT3.0 hardware intelligent version of the P7, so, for the Xiaopeng P7 users, the range of whether or not to reach 700km, they do not care, whether or not it can reach 700km. They do not care, can not bring a more relaxed and intelligent start experience is the focus of the choice of Peng P7, not to mention the other two models of the rear-drive ultra-long range version of the NEDC range of 670km, placed in the same price in the pure electric models, but also very able to beat the results.
