Tape:
1. Can not be accessed randomly, if you want to access the middle of a section, you must start from the beginning of the sequential access. Disks can obviously be located directly to any data.
2. Tape read and write speeds are much slower than hard disk. ---- obviously.
3. Hard disks are much more expensive than tapes.
3. Hard disks are far more expensive than tapes.
In short, hard disks are better than tapes in every way, but tapes are far less expensive than hard disks. This is especially true when it comes to large data volumes.
