China Knowledge Network (CNKI) retrieval is a platform for integrating journals, doctoral dissertations, master's dissertations, conference papers, newspapers, reference books, yearbooks, patents, standards, Chinese studies and overseas literature resources, including the retrieval of Chinese core journals, but not all Chinese core journals.

The comprehensive database of China HowNet includes the full-text database of China journals and the doctoral thesis database of China. Each database provides three retrieval functions: primary retrieval, advanced retrieval and professional retrieval. Advanced retrieval function is the most commonly used. Among them, the full-text database of China journals comes from the full-text of 6 100 core journals and professional journals published publicly in China.

Chinese core periodicals are only one of the sources of periodicals. It includes Chinese core, so what can be retrieved is not necessarily Chinese core, but Chinese core can generally be retrieved on China Knowledge Network (CNKI). Search can only show that it has been included in HowNet, but the core still depends on the level of this publication.

The goal of CNKI 2.0 is to deepen the knowledge service provided by CNKI 1.0, which is based on the integration of public knowledge with the process and results of knowledge innovation in various industries and institutions, and to provide problem-oriented knowledge service and collaborative research platform to stimulate group wisdom through more accurate, systematic and complete explicit management and tacit knowledge management embedded in specific work and learning processes.
