Jieyang City, a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province, is located in the southeastern part of Guangdong Province, where Jieyang County was founded in the 33rd year of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (214 BC), and named after the Jieyang Ridge, one of the Five Ridges of Qinxu in the northwestern part of the county.
The city spans from 115°36ˊ to 116°37ˊ39ˊE longitude and from 22°53ˊ to 23°46ˊ27ˊN latitude. It is close to Xingmei in the north, the South China Sea in the south, Shantou and Chaozhou in the east, and Shanwei in the west. The land area is 5240.5 square kilometers. Inland rivers are mainly Rongjiang, Longjiang and Lianjiang. It is one of the cities in the Economic Zone on the West Coast of the Taiwan Strait.
