1994 12. the State Council approved the cancellation of Linyi area and Linyi city at the county level and the establishment of Linyi city at the prefecture level. Linyi, formerly a municipality directly under the Central Government, is divided into three county-level administrative regions: Lanshan, Hedong and Luo Zhuang. The prefecture-level Linyi City governs Lanshan, Luo Zhuang, Hedong District and Tancheng, Cangshan, Junan, Yishui, Yinan, Pingyi, Feixian, Mengyin and Linshu counties.
