Legal basis: "Regulations on the Placement of Retired Soldiers" Article 8 The competent department for the placement of retired soldiers under the State Council and the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army shall formulate an annual transfer and reception plan for retired soldiers nationwide. Retired soldiers who have one of the following circumstances can be relocated: (1) If the location of their parents’ household registration changes during active service, they can be resettled in the location of their parents’ current household registration; (2) Those who meet the military’s marriage regulations for active-duty soldiers and have been married for 2 years , can be resettled in the place where the spouse or spouse's parents have their household registration; (3) Due to other special circumstances, the relocation is approved by the division (brigade) level unit of the army and approved by the competent department for the resettlement of retired soldiers of the people's government at or above the provincial level. Retired soldiers who are relocated enjoy the same resettlement treatment as retired soldiers in the resettlement place.
