I only remember someone saying that Dingzhou Tower (the highest existing brick tower in China, built in Song Dynasty) was built by the method of earth enclosure.

Fill the periphery of the tower with mud and build side mats at the top of the tower. Just move the soil after it is built.

There was no high technology at that time, so we had to use the "earth" method. There is a local character on the side of the tower for a certain reason! (just guessing)
