"Luntai City" is a county under the jurisdiction of the northern court of the Tang Dynasty. It is located in the fortress of Jinsi Road in Tianshan Mountain in northern Xinjiang, and it is the only place where the "Silk Road" passes through Xinbei Road. Therefore, it has developed into a transportation and trade center and a military defensive position in the western regions of the Tang Dynasty. Cen Can, a famous general poet in the Tang Dynasty, lived in the ancient city of Wulabo for three years, leaving behind a number of high-spirited poems such as Bai Xuege, Song of Luntai and Biography of Walking Horse. , with outstanding patriotic theme and heroic momentum, was regarded as a masterpiece by critics in previous dynasties. This ancient city was gradually abandoned after the Yuan Dynasty.
The ancient city of Wulabo is 550 meters long from north to south and 450 meters wide from east to west. The city wall is basically intact and rammed, with a residual height of 2-7 meters. The layout of the city is divided into three areas, and most of the buildings are gone. In some corners of the city, the remains of square turrets still remain. Pottery pots, earthenware jars, lotus-edged bricks, coins and other utensils have been unearthed one after another, mainly pottery. The ancient city of Wulabo is the earliest preserved and most complete city site in Urumqi, and it is known as the first city in the history of urban construction in Urumqi.
