Legal basis: Article 16 of the Administrative Provisions on Financial Institutions' Assistance in Inquiry, Freezing and Deduction stipulates that the maximum time limit for freezing the deposits of units or individuals is six months, which can be renewed upon expiration. The competent authority shall go through the formalities of freezing renewal before the expiration of the freezing period, and if it fails to go through the formalities of freezing renewal within the time limit, it shall be regarded as an automatic measure to lift the freezing.
