In 2023, Chongqing Southwest University is expected to recruit more than 4,500 full-time postgraduate students (including those who are recommended to be exempted from examination, excluding those enrolled in special programs such as the "High-level Talents Program for Ethnic Minorities") and more than 650 part-time postgraduate students (excluding those enrolled in public education).

Southwest University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Chongqing Municipality. It is the first batch of "double first-class" universities in China, with "2 1 1 Engineering" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform".
