In the second year (the 28th year of Guangxu), on September 5th, according to the provisions of Article 1 1 of the Sino-British Treaty, China and Britain signed the Trade and Navigation Renewal Agreement, which stipulated that Britain's right to "share the benefits" was guaranteed. In the annex, there is an amendment to the Articles of Association of Hong Kong Shipping Company in the Continuing Instrument, which aims to give British ships various conveniences for inland navigation. 1903 (the 29th year of Guangxu)10/0 On October 8th, China and the United States signed the Merchant Shipping Renewal Treaty, agreeing to open the ports of Beijing Fengtianfu (now Shenyang) and Andong County (now Dandong) to trade on their own. China and Japan signed the Contract Renewal for Trading Ships, and agreed to open two ports of Fengtianfu and Dadonggou (now donggang city) in Shengjing Province for trade. Since then, the imperialist powers of Britain, the United States and Japan have extended their claws of aggression to the northeast and Anton. In the same year, Britain decided to set up a consulate in Anton, located on the east side of Jinjiang Mountain Park. After the consulate building was completed, Britain immediately sent a consul to settle in, and at the same time, the consular right of the United States in Anton was also held by Britain. 1906 (the 31st year of Guangxu reign), British Shao appointed two China employees, Teng Yuzhong, and managed the company. After liberation, the building was handed over to the people's government for management.
After the British and American Consulate Building was completed, a two-story European-style building was built about 300 meters east of it as the private residence of Barron, the first taxation department of Anton Haidong.
The former site of the American-British Consulate is the largest and best-preserved European-style building in Dandong, which is the historical evidence that the imperialist powers invaded and carved up China in modern history and made Dandong a colony. At the same time, the building is the epitome of European architectural art, which provides physical data for the study of European architectural art.
Now it is used as the office building of Dandong Military Division Command.
