Hebei Province belongs to China, referred to as "Hebei". Hebei province surrounds the capital Beijing, and is located between east longitude113 27 ′ ~119 50 ′ and north latitude 36 05 ′ ~ 42 40 ′. It borders Tianjin in the east, the Bohai Sea, Shandong and Henan provinces in the southeast and south, Shanxi Province in the west, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the northwest and north, and Liaoning Province in the northeast.
Hebei Province is the only province in China with plateaus, mountains, hills, plains, lakes and coasts, and is an important grain and cotton producing area in China.

During the War of Liberation, Xibaipo in Hebei Province was the temporary residence of the central government. After the founding of the Republic of China, the National Government made Nanjing its capital. Today, the territory of Hebei mainly belongs to Zhili Province. Later, because the name of Zhili Province was not true, it was changed to Hebei Province on 1928.
