In the late 1940s, Andy (played by Tim Robbins), a somewhat accomplished young banker, was imprisoned on suspicion of killing his wife and her lover. In this prison called Shawshank, hope seems illusory. The punishment of life imprisonment undoubtedly dooms Andy to a gloomy and desperate life.
