How to calculate business tax?

Business tax payable = taxable turnover × applicable tax rate.

Turnover refers to all the prices and extra-price fees collected from taxpayers for providing taxable services, selling or leasing intangible assets, and selling real estate. Extra-price charges include handling fees, funds, fund-raising fees, collection fees and other extra-price charges of various natures collected from the other party.

Business tax rates adopt different proportional tax rates according to different industries and categories. The transportation industry is 3%, the sale and lease of intangible assets is 5%, and the sale of real estate is 5%. Extended information

Business tax is a tax levied on the turnover obtained by entities and individuals that provide taxable services, transfer intangible assets, or sell real estate in China. Business tax is a major tax in the turnover tax system. On November 17, 2011, the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation officially announced the pilot plan for replacing business tax with value-added tax.

In May 2015, the last three industries to be replaced by business tax with value-added tax, construction and real estate, finance and insurance, and life service industries, will be launched. The possibility of implementation in different industries cannot be ruled out. Among them, the value-added tax rate for Jian'an real estate is tentatively set at 11%, and the value-added tax rate for the financial insurance and life service industries is 6%. This means that after entering the second half of 2015, China may say goodbye to business tax altogether.
