Plastic identification code, or synthetic resin identification code, plastic material number, plastic material code and plastic code, is a classification coding method formulated by Plastic Industry Society in 1988.
The symbol of plastic classification mark contains clockwise arrow, forming a complete triangle and surrounding the code. Usually under the triangle, there will be an abbreviation representing plastic material.
When the code of the symbol is omitted, the symbol becomes a general recycling symbol, which is used to refer to general recyclable materials. In this case, other words and labels will be used to refer to used materials.
