Historical evolution of hukou:
Hukou has a long history. People settled here in the late Neolithic period. Xia and Shang Dynasties belonged to the south of Yangzhou, and the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period belonged to Wu Yuechu. The Qin Dynasty belongs to Jiujiang County. The early Han Dynasty belonged to pengze county, Xiaoyang and Zhang Yu counties. In the second year of Jianwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 26), it belonged to pengze county. Tao Yuanming in Jin Dynasty was once under the jurisdiction of Liu Dezhao Natural Village in Hukou, Qiao Jun Town.
In the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 420-479), Hukou garrison was set up, which still belonged to pengze county. In the second year of Southern Tang Dynasty (AD 938), Hukou County, half of Pengze Township and Wuliu Township in pengze county, and Xiaoyang Town (southwest of Shuangzhong Town) were under the county administration and belonged to Fenghua Army.
