Jiangning Street, formerly known as Jiangning Town, is a famous town in Jiangsu with a history of more than two thousand years.

Historically, Jiangning Town has played an important role in politics, transportation and military affairs.

During the reign of Taikang (AD 280), Sima Yan, Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty, renamed it Moling and set up Linjiang County, which is in today's Jiangning Street. Linjiang County was renamed Jiangning County the following year. Until the tenth year of Emperor Yangdi's reign and the county moved to Yecheng (now Nanjing), Jiangning Street still maintained an important position and prosperity.

During the period of Song Jingde, Jiangning Town was formally established and has been called "the first town in Jiangning" for thousands of years.
