Shaanxi, referred to as "Shaanxi" or "Qin" for short, is one of the provincial administrative units of the Chinese people, and Xi 'an, the provincial capital. The geographical location is between 15 29 ′ ~ 111 15 ′ east longitude and 31 42 ′ ~ 39 35 ′ north latitude, and it spans the north and the south by Qinling-Huaihe River line. Located in the hinterland of the northwest, it spans the middle of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, connecting the eastern and central regions of China and the important hubs of the northwest and southwest. Shaanxi is the geodetic origin of China's latitude and longitude datum and the seat of the National Time Service Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing time. The province covers a total area of 25,8 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 37.75 million at the end of 214. It has jurisdiction over one sub-provincial city and nine prefecture-level cities, among which Xi 'an and Baoji have a population of over one million. Shaanxi has a long history and is one of the important birthplaces of civilization. In ancient times, it was where Yongzhou and Liangzhou were located, and it was the hometown of Yandi and the burial place of Huangdi. In the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty, Zhou Chengwang was bounded by Shaanxi, and the west was under the jurisdiction of Zhao Gong. Later generations called the west of Shaanxi "Shaanxi". Shaanxi has been the capital of emperors since ancient times, with nine unified dynasties and five capitals in Xi 'an (Xianyang), leaving 79 imperial tombs, known as the "Oriental Pyramid". Shaanxi is one of the important science and education highlands in China, with eight 985 or 211 engineering universities including Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University and xidian university. Shaanxi has three nine world heritages.
