Formerly known as Zhang Xinyuan, he was born in Huangling Village, Lingtou Township, Qianshan County, Anhui Province. Born in a small bureaucratic family in Guangxin, Jiangxi, he graduated from the Mongolian-Tibetan border reclamation school. Later, he served as editor-in-chief of Wanjiang Daily, editor of World Daily, editor of Beiping World Daily, editor of Shanghai Bao Li, president of Nanjing People's Daily, presiding judge and manager of Beiping Xinmin Daily, and 1949 later served as librarian of the Central Museum of Literature and History. The work was published in 19 17. 1952 Join the Chinese Writers Association.
He was born in Shangrao because his father worked as a clerk in Guangxin Taxation in Shangrao, Jiangxi. And spent his childhood and adolescence in Shangrao. When I was a child, I studied in an old-style library, and I was addicted to The Journey to the West's Biography and other classical novels, especially the writing techniques of A Dream of Red Mansions, romantic poetry and rhyme and the plot of a novel with talented people and beautiful women.
When he was young, Zhang Henshui became a journalist and began to write. He began to use the pen name "hate water" from 19 14, and his name was taken from a sentence by Li Yu, "People grow up and hate water." Works created during the period up to 19 19, such as tears in shirts, lovesickness in southern China, etc. All of them were included in the novels of Yuanyang Butterfly School for describing infatuation and lingering.
1In April, 924, Zhang Henshui began to serialize Zhang Hui's novel The History of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Ming Dynasty in the supplement of World Evening News. This 900,000-word work swept the northern cities in the next 57 months, making Zhang Henshui famous. 1926, Zhang Henshui published another more important work, The Golden Powder Family, which further expanded his influence. But what really pushed Zhang's popularity to the peak was the novel "Cry and Laugh", which combined the elements of romance, condemnation and martial arts. This novel has been published in twenty or thirty editions. At that time, it became news because the major film companies rushed to shoot, and there were not a few dramas and quyi adapted from it, and the number of sequels to Cry is the largest in novels of the Republic of China. At this point, Zhang Henshui's reputation is in full swing. Even people who don't read novels know this writer, just as people who don't watch Beijing Opera know Mei Lanfang.
1934, Zhang Henshui went to Shaanxi and Gansu and witnessed the inhuman hard life of the people in Shaanxi and Gansu, which was greatly shocked. Later, the style of writing changed greatly, and the scholar-bureaucrat style gradually decreased, and people began to describe their sufferings (such as the novel Yan Return). After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he devoted a lot of energy to writing anti-Japanese war novels, among which the novels Eighty-one Dreams and Animal World (formerly known as Cattle and Horses Walking) were the most valued by later generations. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, some of his works were devoted to exposing the dark rule in the Kuomintang-controlled areas, and he created novels such as Five Children Entering the University, but none of them had a significant impact.
1967 Zhang Henshui died in Beijing at the age of 73.
In the history of modern literature in China, Zhang Henshui is undoubtedly one of the most prolific writers. In his writing career of more than 50 years, * * * has completed more than 30 million words, and 1 10 is a masterpiece. The evaluation of the history of modern literature after the founding of the People's Republic of China is far above other conservative novelists in the Republic of China because of his late participation in the literary creation of the Anti-Japanese War.
