Yunxiao County has jurisdiction over 6 towns and 3 townships, namely Yunling Town, Chendai Town, Dongxia Town, Pumei Town, Xiuyu Town, Huotian Town, Xiahe Township, Mapu Township and Heping Township. Yunxiao is located in the southern coast of Fujian Province, and the terrain is inclined from northwest to south. The northeast, west and southwest edges are all mountains, and the middle to southeast are coastal plains. The coastline is 48 kilometers long. Zhangjiang River flows through the county, with Fengtou Reservoir and eastward canal in the upper reaches. Places of interest and memorial sites include the Beiqiu Site in the Summer and Shang Dynasties in Jianfeng, the Yinwen Pottery Cultural Site in the Shang and Zhou Dynasties in Yuanling, the Fairy Peak, the rock paintings in Qingqi, Yunshan Academy, Weihui Temple, Shuzilou, the old city of Zhangzhou, Shifan Tower and 18 caves in Wushan, where the Central and Southern Fujian Special Committee was located during the Second Revolutionary Civil War.
