Can individuals pay the provident fund?
Under normal circumstances, individuals are not allowed to pay provident fund, but in some cities, individuals can pay provident fund.

Generally speaking, the provident fund can only be paid in the name of the unit, not in the name of the individual! According to the Decision of the State Council Municipality on Amending the Regulations on the Management of Housing Provident Fund promulgated and implemented on March 24th, 2002, "Housing Provident Fund refers to the long-term housing savings paid by state organs, state-owned enterprises, urban collective enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises, urban private enterprises and other urban enterprises, institutions, private non-enterprise units, social organizations (hereinafter collectively referred to as units) and their employees." In other words, the deposit of housing provident fund can only be handled in the unit.

However, some cities have introduced the policy that individuals can pay provident fund. Taking Harbin as an example, this regulation applies to the deposit, withdrawal and use of housing provident fund for urban individual industrial and commercial households and flexible employees under the age of 60 and 55 in our city.

The monthly deposit base of individual depositors' housing provident fund can be adjusted once a year according to the average social wage of the previous year announced by the municipal statistics department or the average tax revenue of the depositors in the previous year. I apply, and the provident fund center will make changes after examination. The deposit ratio is not less than 8% and not more than 12%. The monthly deposit amount shall not be higher than the upper limit stipulated by the provident fund center.
