Tax accountant refers to someone who has passed the national tax accountant unified examination and obtained the "Tax Agent Professional Qualification Certificate", and at the same time Professional and technical personnel who are registered and engaged in tax-related authentication and tax-related service activities. In July 2014, the State Council canceled the professional qualification license for registered tax agents, so registered tax agents were renamed tax agents. After the name change, tax agents still belong to the national professional qualifications.

The tax accountant qualification is obtained through an examination and certification system. A registration service system is implemented for the tax agent professional qualification certificate. The specific work of the tax agent professional qualification certificate registration service is handled by the National Tax Agent Industry Association. The 2021 Tax Agent Qualification Examination will be held on November 13-14.

From December 2021, according to the "Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security on the Implementation of Electronic Certificates for the Professional Qualifications of Professional and Technical Personnel", tax accountants will implement electronic certificates in the professional qualifications of professional and technical personnel.

The Tax Agent Professional Qualification Examination is scheduled in November every year. The 2021 Tax Agent Professional Qualification Examination will be held on November 13 and 14, 2021. The test duration for each subject is 150 minutes.

The exam system supports 6 input methods, namely Microsoft Pinyin input method, Google Pinyin input method, Sogou Pinyin input method, Wangma Wubi input method, Ultimate Wubi input method, and Universal Wubi input method. Auxiliary input devices and software such as handwriting tablets are not provided.
