The jurisdiction of hegang includes Xiangyang District, Workers and Peasants District, Nanshan District, Xing 'an District, Dongshan District and Xingshan District, and two counties are Luobei County and Suibin County.

Hegang, also known as Xingshan, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Heilongjiang Province. It is located in the northeast of China, across the river from Birobidzhan, the Russian Jewish Autonomous Prefecture in the north, bordering Jiamusi across the Songhua River in the southeast and Yichun, the forest capital in the west. It is a "triangle" region of Heilongjiang, Songhua River and Xiaoxing 'anling, and belongs to the continental monsoon climate in the north temperate zone.
