1February, 988, jiangyou city was established with the approval of the State Council.

On October 6th, 2006/kloc-Sichuan provincial government approved the cancellation of beicheng, and placed the administrative areas of Longjing, Xinglong and Genting villages in beicheng and the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth villagers' groups in Baishi village under the jurisdiction of Yongsheng town, and the administrative areas of Baiyi, Liulin, Daidong, Daping, Guanwu and Xiaohe villages in beicheng and the third villagers' group in Baishi village under the jurisdiction.
