The ancient town of Yi Wu is located in the northwest of Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, about 11 kilometers away from Mengla County and more than 3 kilometers away from Mengxing. On the top of the mountain, the climate is cooler than that of Mengla and Mengbangbazi. In the past, Yi Wu used to be the seat of Zhenyue County, but it was extremely desolate, just a small village with dozens of families. Today, Yi Wu has newly built shops, supply and marketing cooperatives, restaurants, hotels, finance offices, tax offices, post and telecommunications offices, hospitals, and brand-new buildings, all of which are small tile houses hidden among green trees, and have become a new town on the border.
according to historical records, in the early Qing dynasty, Yi Wu was allowed to use Wu Shanfu, a Han Chinese, as the general manager of Yi samurai. Tuba is always the local toast. Wu Shanfu was an active minister in defending the frontier against foreign aggression, so he became a chieftain here, and he was hereditary. Until the establishment of Zhenyue County in 1927, Yi Wu became the fifth district. In 193, the government of Zhenyue County was moved from Mengla to Yiwu. In 1933, Yi Wu Tusi was designated as the first district, which governed Yiwu Town. Yi Wu has long been an important town on the border.
