Hu Lian, (1907- 1977), a native of Dongfang Village, Beihui Town, Huazhou District, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province. A first-class army general in the Republic of China, graduated from the Whampoa Military Academy in the fourth phase, and was affiliated to the Civil Engineering Department of Chen Cheng. He was a famous soldier in the later period when the National Government ruled the mainland.

He and Hu Zongnan are also called erhu, the former is called Jin Menwang and the latter is called Northwest King, but it is popular among Chiang Kai-shek that "ten Northwest Kings are not worth one Jin Menwang".

War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the teacher 1 1, led his troops to defend Shipai fortress in western Hubei, and was awarded the Right Day and White Day Medal. In the War of Liberation, the 18 Army, one of the five main forces of the Kuomintang, took part in the civil war.
