1997 was established with the approval of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice. Formerly known as the Portuguese Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cai Wenxian was the first president. There are two branches, (1) department store association (2) catering industry association. The purpose of the association is to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese businessmen in Portugal, promote the healthy development of Chinese businessmen in Portugal, strengthen the unity of Chinese businessmen in Portugal, maintain the stability of Chinese communities, promote economic and cultural exchanges between Portugal and China, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Portuguese peoples.

The General Chamber of Commerce consists of a general meeting, a board of directors and a board of supervisors. President 1 person, supervisor 1 person, 6 vice-presidents, secretary-general 1 person, and executive director1person, divided into six departments, including secretary, finance, outreach, organization, economy and trade, and women, with a term of two years. At present, the members of the association cover catering, department stores, food supermarkets, printing, import and export trade, travel agencies, entertainment and gambling, real estate, construction, medical and health industries.

In recent years, we have successfully held the Spring Festival Gala with the State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and local overseas Chinese Affairs Office. During the China North Sea Fleet's visit to Portugal, we helped the Fleet Military Orchestra successfully put on a wonderful performance at the Casino Theatre. Our association maintains friendly relations with local government departments, holds lectures and discussions on immigration, law, health, taxation, import and export trade and other knowledge from time to time, and launches fund-raising in time for domestic disasters.
